Introducing Module 6
Much of what makes teaching so inspiring (and challenging) is intangible: love, inspiration, collaboration, hope... is close to impossible to measure.
Nevertheless, we live in an era of evidence and data. We want to know that what we are doing is making a difference: to determine if our students are learning and connecting to each other, achieving on tests, able to become independent and well informed decision makers, morally-responsible citizens, and leaders in their communities.
We struggle with what our school directors and the government demand of us. We fight the clock. We wonder if we are doing enough or how to improve. For me, the teaching profession is filled with people who are happy with the idea that they'll will never be satisfied!
Along the way, however, we should have something to show for it.
The advantage of e-Portfolios is that we can constantly refine what we believe is important. We can address a challenge we've taken on or show the world the journey we've begun to take. We can provide examples: images, stories, examples, videos, assignments. And, equally important, we can demonstrate (in whatever way we choose) to express what we've learned and what we want to learn about being a teacher.
Objectives
This module has two VERY important objectives:
- To assemble and reassemble your e-Portfolio
- To have a voice in your own learning for Year 2
